Our Story – So Far
Hi, I’m Áine from Tara Hill Flowers.
We are located in north County Wexford, on the slopes of scenic and historic Tara Hill. Our flowers are 100% grown over almost two acres of our land. In essence, there are just three natural ingredients – the seed, the seasons and the soil. Plus a lot of hard work!
Our dry loam volcanic soil is excellent for growing high quality flowers and foliage, and we have up to 50 different varieties to choose from at any time. Our location overlooking the Irish Sea allows us to have an extended growing season, with frost very rare due to the proximity to the coast.
Our range of traditional “cottage garden” style flowers changes from month to month as the flowers come into bloom. Each year is different as Mother Nature and the elements will always challenge even the most expert grower. We are always experimenting with new varieties that will thrive in our soil and climate, and the spectacular results of our work are there for all to see.
We then use our flowers to create bouquets to celebrate all stages of the circles of life. Our hand tied bunches are tailor-made for each customer to suit the emotion or message of the moment, and all reflect the beauty of the Irish countryside at that time in the growing season.
An added joy is that our field of flowers is a great hit with the local bee and butterfly population. Visitors are welcome to see for themselves how they flit about between our blooms before our flowers are harvested.
Creating such magical and memorable experiences for customers is a joy for me. I studied Agricultural Science in college many years ago, but then spent 20 years working in other areas and travelling. When we settled back in rural Ireland in 2018, we looked at what we could do with the land. Creating floral arrangements was something that I always enjoyed, so I completed some courses in how to grow flowers for myself.
In the spring of 2020, our flower farm came to life. We’ve already had huge numbers of happy customers across North Wexford and beyond, and we look forward to serving you too.
